Ambassadors
Delaine & Co. is proud to have three of the best downhill skiers in American history carrying the Delaine flag. Not only have they performed at the highest level on the world stage, they are actively supporting skiers of all levels with top notch instruction through the Mahre Training Center and Ski Strong.
Phil and Steve Mahre
Phil and Steve Mahre are icons of American ski racing. Over a 10 year world cup career, Phil had 27 world cup wins, 68 podium finishes. He won 7 discipline titles and the overall World cup three years in a row, 1981, 1982 and 1983. In the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics, he won the Silver medal in Slalom and won Gold in the 1980 Combined at the World Championships.Steve produced 9 world cup wins, 21 podiums. He won the Gold medal in Giant Slalom in the 1982 World Championships. They are perhaps most known, though, for their 1-2 finish in Slalom at the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics with Phil besting younger brother Steve by .21 seconds for the Gold and Steve claiming the Silver. Since retiring from competitive skiing in 1984, the twins have been running ski camps called the Mahre Training Center. They have developed a training progression, designed for all skiers, focusing on the fundamentals. The program has been successful with about 200 people/year participating and they’ve had campers from all over the world including the US, UK, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Russia and Korea. 2023 will bring a new format of “Coached” ski trips to a variety of areas. Each trip includes small group coaching with both Phil and Steve.
"We are especially proud to be ambassadors for Delanie & Co. sweaters. The clean retro styling is classic, and the merino wool knit is the perfect mid-layer. We all often note, that in many cases they just don’t make things like they used to---This is the exception! These sweaters are timeless classics, bound to become heirlooms. The Mahre brothers are made in America and love that these sweaters are as well."
